On Friday the 10th of November I had a Public Access To Law course which I signed up for earlier in the year, because I hope to become a barrister once I leave school. It took place in the Pavilion and lasted all day Friday.
A barrister who works in Dublin came in and taught us all about the work involved in being a barrister, showed us some real life cases and set up mock cases for us at the end. I learned about the different courts in Ireland, such as circuit, district and criminal. I also learned about the process of becoming a barrister or solicitor. I was a barrister and member of the opposition in a case involving someone accused of assault. The opposition (my team) won the case. I found the day very interesting and enjoyable.
